Awesome Week!

Hey family and friends!

What a GREAT week. It was a little hard, and a little hot, but you could say I learned A LOT.  

One of our investigators and her boyfriend went and marked their marriage this past week!  So there will be another wedding coming up at the end of this month.  Woot!

We had an AMAZING devotional by an area 70 and his wife (Elder and Sister Adler from Germany) on Friday.  They talked a lot about the atonement and how we can apply it in our lives. It was very inspiring. 

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes! So far I have had an awesome 21st birthday.  Sister Bybee and I went to a restaurant that is right on the ocean front.  SO BEAUTIFUL.  We had a very delicious buffet. We tried to go to some other fun places too... But today is a national holidayso pretty much everything is closed.  So it´s a blessing the cyber was opened to email you all! #blessed

Anyway, sorry I don´t have much to write this week.  So many things happen in one day and the week goes by so fast I feel like just yesterday we did email. And I seem to forget all the happenings. 

I´m so grateful to be here in Cabo Verde. I have learned so much about my Savior and how through Him and the power of His Atonement I can receive the strength to get up and become better. He wants us to place our burdens in His hands so he can help us carry them. I know that as we truly seek His help, He will be there!  His power will enter into our lives. I am nothing without Him.  I´m so grateful for my Savior and his sacrafice so that each one of us can find a lasting peace and one day return to the presence of our ever



loving Father in Heaven.

What a week!

Hey family!

This week was great!  We had MLC with Elder Zwick, we had some other sisters fly in and stay in our house to get their visa´s renewed,  we found a bunch of amazing new investigators, got an awesome birthday package (thanks fam!), and we are planning another WEDDING!!

Praia is great! It´s so much faster paced than any of my other areas, but I love it. It´s always really hot here especially now that the summer months are coming. 

We had a great family night with some of Sister Bybee´s recent converts and they invited a bunch of their friends (awesome member missionary work!) and during the family night there were giant bunnies and baby bunnies running around our feet.  I actually don´t know whose bunnies they were, but I guess someone in that house own LOTS of bunnies. 

This week, after all of the mission conferences I was hit with how I can live a more consecrated life--truly be dedicated to the Lord.  I have been touched with the enormous love that God has for each and everyone of his children.  I´ve come to understand that God´s work and glory is truly to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man (Moses 1:39). He wants to be in the details of our lives and help each and everyone of us through our hard times and our good times so that one day we can be prepared to return and live with Him.

I love this work and the opportunity I have to be such a big part of it here in Cabo Verde.  I love these people and I love the Lord.

The BIG city...

Hey family!

What a crazy week!  Everything is so much bigger and faster here. I´m serving in an area that is like the ghetto of Praia.  It´s like the gangster zone thuggy life. It´s great! It´s SO different. But I love it. 

I don´t even know where to start, so many things have happened!  Because I´m in Praia, all the new sisters and sisters that are leaving pass through this house.  So we sent off some sisters this week and received some new ones too!  I got to see Sister Calasan again!  It was cool to see everyone but a little exhausting too. Hahaha. 

I´m writing on Tuesday because yesterday we had a member of the 70 come and speak to us, Elder Zwick!  It was amazing!  He talked about how we can live a consecrated life and become more dedicated missionaries.  It was so inspiring!

Sunday morning on our way to church we received a call from one of our investigators who last minute decided she wanted to come to church.  So we passed by her house and her and her husband and daughter came!  It was a great Easter sunday, the chapel here is beautiful and the ward is amazing! 

Also there are so many bakeries and yummy things to eat here.  AND HOT WATER!  It´s a miracle.  Praia is great!  I love the mission!

We're Leaving on a Jet Plane...

Hey family!

Well transfers have happened once again... and lots of unexpected things are happening! I and my companion, Sister Sorensen, will be headed out and leaving our dearly beloved area here in Sal. Lots of tears shed, but good things ahead.

I am being transfered to serve in Praia as Sister Leader there!  And Sister Sorensen will be taking a quick trip home to the doctors. 

I never imagined that saying goodbye to these people would be so hard. But I´m SO GRATEFUL for every moment that I had with them.  

I know that God has a greater plan for the both of us and that our investigators and recent converts will be taken care of here. 

I love this place. I love these people. And I love the Lord. I can´t express fully how grateful I am for my Savior and this opportunity I have had to be a representative of Him and share this joy with the people here in Sal.    

Well folks, I´m off to the big city to spread this amazing gospel to my brothers and sisters in Praia!

Its APRIL!....

Hey family!  

Can you believe it´s already APRIL?!  Time is flying by!

This past week was amazing!  And it ended on a spiritual high with conference.   I loved conference!  We watched it projected onto a screen in the church, and everyone´s faces were purple because there was something wrong with the projector.  We also missed about half of it due to internet problems, but thankfully the talks we did see  were amazing. I will have to catch up on the ones I missed though. 

I hope you all had a good April Fool´s day.  My companion couldn´t do much because we are always together, but she did dump a bottle of mint flavoring into our milk.  Unfortunately the first time I used the milk on April Fools Day was for making an omlelete.  Hahaha.  Although I tried drinking our mint milk with some chocolate powder and WOW!  Mint chocolate milk :) yummmm.

It seemed like so much happened this week, yet I can´t remember anything. We had a fun family night with glow sticks and how the more we keep the commandments the more light we will have in our lives.  So with every commandment they broke their glow  stick.  It was so fun and everyone thought it was so cool! 

Mizi and Nicola have been teaching with us and giving us awesome referalls. They are so amazing!  They have such a light. 

One family we found this week, the father was injured in an accident at work.  We went over to teach them and while we were there their father walked in from the doctors and exused himself to go lay down.  While we were teaching we hear him yell from the other room that he wanted everyone to gather in the bedroom so that he could hear too.  So the whole family and us squished into the bedroom.  They are a sweet family and we are excited to keep teaching them!

 Remember that through Christ everything is possible. I remember one lesson we had this week one of  our investigators asked us if they could ever be forgiven of what they had done, and I was reminded of how grateful I am for the atonement of our Savior.  Through Him we can be forgiven, clean, and have peace restored to our lives.  He can heal our wounds and mend our broken hearts.  I love my Savior and I´m so grateful for the chance I have to share the restored gospel with my fellow brothers and sisters here in Sal.

WOW!!

What an amazing week!  It was so crazy, so awesome, and a little stressful. But let´s just focus on the awesome stuff :)

MIZI AND NICOLA GOT MARRIED AND BAPTIZED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love this family so much!! What a special couple days.  Friday they got married, Saturday they got baptized, and Sunday they received the gift of the Holy Ghost!! 

They had no idea that the branch decorated the church for them after their marriage so they had a fun little surprise.  

This family is so sweet.  Definitely the porrest family I have ever met, but they have the greatest faith!!! 

I´m so grateful that I had the chance to be here to see them make these amazing changes in their lives. 

This is the church of our Savior, and only through Him can we find a lasting peace and happiness.  Through Him we can prepare as families to return to the presence of our loving Heavenly Father. I´m so excited for this family.  

Mizi spoke a little bit at her wedding and said that they would start preparing to go to the temple in Brazil so that they can be sealed for all eternity. 

Ah,  what a special week. I love this place!  I love these people.  And I love the Lord.  

Through His grace we can truly do things that we aren´t able to do on our own.

Short and sweet...

Hey family!

Sorry this email will be a super fast one. 

This week was great!  I got to go on divisions with Sister Stonely.  Which was cool because I got to go on divisions with her in Fogo and then here in Sal! We also have had a little bit of rain everyday so that has been nice! But it´s also been pretty cold. 

Mizi and Nicola are preparing for their wedding and baptism that will happen this weekend! WE ARE SO EXCITED!!!!!  I will take lots of pictures and will write a ton more next week to fill you all in how everything went!!!

This week didn´t go how we wished it would, but something that I´ve learned is that that´s just kind of how life is going to go. But what´s great is we can get up brush our selves off and keep going... with a great big SMILE on our faces.  Because we have the happiest message in the whole world!  God lives, he loves us, and he has an incredible plan of happiness for each and everyone of us. 

The Lord has so many people prepared and so many miracles waiting.  And not just here in Cape Verde, but everywhere! Put your trust in the Lord and you will see His hand and miracles in your life too.
